After we've planned one trip together, I hope you'll think of me for small travel plans as well as large ones. Hotel-only bookings are always free.

Fees and commissions

What the planning fee pays for.

The planning fee covers my time: the research, the itinerary building, the back-and-forth until it's right. I also sometimes receive commissions from hotels and other partners. Those come from the hotel, not from you, and they never influence what I recommend.

If a locally owned guesthouse is the right choice for your trip but doesn't pay commission, that's what I'll book.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Why pay a planning fee if you also earn commissions?

The planning fee covers my time. Hotel commissions come from the hotel, not from you, and they don't affect what I recommend.

How is this different from using a travel site?

Research and judgment, mostly. I know which hotels in a given destination actually deliver on what they promise, which guides are worth hiring, which neighborhoods put you close to what you want, and which must-sees can safely be skipped. You could spend 20 hours researching and still not get there. And if you want to stay involved in the fun part of the research, I'm happy to work that way. Some of my best trips have come out of a real back-and-forth with a client who had strong opinions.

How far ahead should I reach out?

Domestic trips need about three months of advance planning, while international ideally gets six. Some trips, especially cruises and safaris, need a whole year. College tours often need more lead time than people expect because campus visit slots fill up fast. If your timeline is tighter, reach out anyway and I'll tell you what's realistic.

Do you book flights?

Yes! I book flights through Fora Flights' platform. There is a $50 fee/ticket which covers the research, booking, and 24/7 emergency support. It generally makes the most sense to use this service if you are booking international flights, a complicated routing, or want to book premium economy or business class. I can also research flights and you can book yourself.

Can I reach you during the trip?

I'm available to support you up to your departure. During the trip I'm available as much as possible by WhatsApp, though time zones may make it challenging. For certain countries, I'll always recommend working with local partners who can provide on-the-ground support.

Do you handle group bookings?

Yes, including conferences, retreats and destination weddings. Email me to discuss: rebecca.novick@fora.travel

You can reach out with exact dates and destinations, or you can still be at an exploratory stage.

How Far in Advance Should I Plan?
